“In every person’s life, around 27 to 29 years old, the stars and the planets align themselves to exactly the way they were when you were born. You’re faced with yourself. There’s no running away.”

The danger in pretending is not the quality of our imagination but the slow decrease of our true destination. Life will always remind us of the kind of people we are, deep down. The kind of mechanics we have that keep us moving. It can be a harsh glow of the fragile, tiny yet extensive vessels we are. We run into ourselves while simultaneously trying to escape from ourselves. We ask, and then question, the different states we reside in. Never truly believing in our victories and fallacies.

Is this what I think I am feeling?

Am I who I say I am?

Or are we only ever who we try to be? -Trying to be the you that you want, while understanding that one can only ever be…

oneself.

We are not just who we aren’t.

So then, who are you?

New Year, New You | Seasonal Semantics

Around this time of the year we all want to relax – to reflect on what we already know, what we have come to know and to whom we have shared this with.

Mags Loves Jimi is a space for reflection and curation and always has been. In this space I am free to let go, unwind, unravel, encompass, entertain and most importantly, create growth through retrospection – all of which added to the good year that was 2016.

I have had my ego bruised, vindicated, inflated and acknowlegded throughout the peaks and valleys of the year. I came to discover a new found sense of freedom and confidence… accompanied by an overwhelming sense of responsibility. As I delve deeper into my late late 20s I am constantly reminded that we are all a working progress that knows nothing except either we want to change or not. My prayer is that we all continue to be present in our loved one’s lives – the people who uplift, propel, enrich and protect us as we do them. If 2016 showed us anything it’s that life is shorter than we believe, that our pain matters and that laughter is a truly amazing gift.

So I hope as you read this you are reminded of a moment where you laughed so hard you thought you’d cry (and maybe you did). As always I am appreciative of the journey thus far and I hope this shows not only in the pretty and nice words but in thoughtful action.

Happy New Year!

Bottoms up… Or down – depending on how you like it 😉.

No judgement.

“When [what you are deeply passionate about, what you can be best in the world at and what drives your economic engine] come together, not only does your work move toward greatness, but so does your life. For, in the end, it is impossible to have a great life unless it is a meaningful life. And it is very difficult to have a meaningful life without meaningful work. Perhaps, then, you might gain that rare tranquility that comes from knowing that you’ve had a hand in creating something of intrinsic excellence that makes a contribution. Indeed, you might even gain that deepest of all satisfactions: knowing that your short time here on this earth has been well spent, and that it mattered.”
